Robert Crumb

Guest Player:  1977 [live performance & broadcast]

Instrument:  Banjo

Subsequent Gigs:  Cheap Suit Serenaders; Les Primitifs du Futur; world-renowned cartoonist; subject of Terry Zwigoff's documentary Crumb.

Profile:  Antique-record collector Robert Crumb dug The Klezmorim's 78-rpm sound, and sat in with us — along with Cheap Suit Serenader comrades Terry Zwigoff and Rick Elmore — at a 1977 Freight & Salvage show broadcast live over KPFA-FM. The following year, in exchange for some old records, he painted the stunning cover art for our second album Streets of Gold — later re-used as the cover art for our reissue anthology First Recordings 1976 - 78.
